What is Hypnosis?

My Philosophy

Hypnosis is a state of mind in which the client is deeply relaxed, yet highly focused. In that state of deep relaxation, we are able to bypass the conscious, critical-thinking part of the mind (the part of the mind which forms a barrier to the subconscious mind). These suggestions are created together by client and hypnotist during the initial discussion portion of the hypnosis session, prior to "induction" into the hypnotic state. The induction is simply the process by which the hypnotist assists the client to enter the state of hypnosis, in which state suggestions can be integrated more efficiently to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is that part of the mind where negative thoughts and behaviors can more easily be altered. When you are provided a new suggestion under hypnosis - a suggestion that is acceptable to you, and is congruent with what you wish to change in yourself - your subconscious mind can more readily accept the new behavior and integrate it into your mindset. It is important to stress that during hypnosis, the client feels relaxed but remains well aware of what is being said, and can recall what occurred during the session. Moreover, a recording of the hypnosis session is provided to the client. This recording can be listened to at your convenience to further enhance and integrate the effects of the hypnosis session.

While some nervousness is normal and common prior to the first session, hypnosis conducted by a professional hypnosis counselor is safe and usually quite effective. Clients are usually pleasantly surprised to find they enjoy their session and feel relaxed and positive, both during and after hypnosis. Contrary to what some people believe, the client always remains in control of their self during hypnosis.  No one can make you do anything against your moral or ethical values. You must want to make the suggested change in your behavior in order for the suggestions to be effective.

Hypnosis is a safe, versatile, and highly effective tool for self- improvement.

I respect the fact that each person is a unique individual. Not all people enter the state of hypnosis in the same way, and people have different “suggestibility types.” Moreover, what is relaxing or inspiring to one person might be unpleasant or frightening to another. For example, the thought of being on a beach or floating on water could be pleasantly relaxing to one person and could evoke fear and anxiety in another. What is effective for one person may do nothing for the next person.
For maximum success, I am careful to learn about the unique needs of my client, and tailor my approach to each client specifically. Each person is unique, and is respected as such.
By paying careful attention to the client’s individual desires and goals, we work together to achieve those goals.
I am dedicated to providing my clients the highest quality session, working with honesty, integrity, and care.
Hypnosis, when used correctly, is a safe and effective tool for self-improvement.
